Yeah, I remember reading a poem by Leslie Fish that used that idea. It's really interesting learning about ideas and bits of fanon from before I was born. :)
I know the one. Way to make me feel old! I probably have zines that are older than you are. :)
I'm glad that you got into fandom through the reboot but actually prefer the original. Nice to see there are those out there who don't mind the "cheesy" special effects etc. that were, at the time, cutting edge. I spoke to Kathy Resch this past weekend at Shoreleave and she mentioned there are a lot of people helping scan and proof old stories so they can finally be put up online. I want to get my old stuff up there too. It wasn't even written on computer (yes, we used stone knives and bear skins to do those zines, lol) Oh, you might enjoy reading the posts on njpax. She and her sister co-edited "Contact" which was the first zine dedicated to the Kirk/Spock relationship (using the "/" before it meant slash) and a lot of my early stories were in their zine. She tells a lot of stories about getting into fandom in the old days, and on my LJ, I'm doing "30 Days of Fanfic" and talk some about my Trek writing too.
