Thanks. I actually based it a little on how Kirk reacts at the beginning of The Search for Spock. Knowing that someone you love died a hero doesn't change the fact that they died, and I wanted to show that.

And Spock's relatively emotional attitude is great.

I'm glad you think so. I was worried that it might come off a bit too un-Vulcan, but I thought it fit with how he reacted in the film.
